Mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and brown sugar. Coat all sides of the 3lb pork shoulder with the entire spice mix. Add the coated pork shoulder to a slow cooker. Cook for 8-10 hours. For a better sear, cook the first hour on high. If the pork shoulder isn't fatty enough, you can add 1/4 cup of chicken broth for more liquid. Let the cooked pork rest for 20 minutes before shredding.
