Add the beef, 1/2 stick butter pieces, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire, and onion powder to a bowl. Mix thoroughly and then form 1/4lb balls. In a cast iron pan, add the sliced onion, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire, red pepper flakes, and 2 tablespoons butter. Add the pan with onions to the grill and caramelize the onions until soft and browned. Grease a separate cast iron skillet and cook the burger patties to your desired doneness. Add cheddar cheese slices to the burgers while they cook or immediately after. Toast your burger buns. Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the toasted buns, topping with the caramelized onions, and serving immediately.
