Sesame Chicken

A classic that is easy to make at home and way better than takeout! The chicken is light and crispy, and if you’d like, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce to give it a little heat!

What you need

oz sesame seed

tbsp rice vinegar

cup corn starch

tbsp brown sugar

clove garlic

pinch salt

cup soy sauce

cup honey

fl oz frying oil

cup plain flour

cup ketchup

pinch pepper

tbsp sesame oil

cup cooked rice

lb chicken pieces

tbsp cooking oil

Instructions
For the Sauce: Mix honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and 2 teaspoons of starch together. Heat a pan with 1 tablespoon of oil and cook some minced garlic until fragrant. Add in the mixed sauce, stir, and simmer for approximately 3 minutes until it thickens. For the Chicken: Cut chicken into 1-inch cubes. In one bowl, mix eggs with salt and pepper. In another bowl, mix flour and 3/4 cup of starch. Dunk the chicken pieces in the egg mixture, then coat them thoroughly in the flour and starch mixture. Heat oil for frying to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook chicken for roughly 5 minutes until crispy and cooked through. Toss the cooked chicken in the prepared sauce. To serve, build your bowl with 2 cups of cooked rice, topping with the sesame chicken, sesame seeds, and green onion.View original recipe
